What is ForMIDABLE PREP?
PREP 2025
Middle school students are in our invited to join this fun and innovative program that will teach them programming, robotics and engineering concepts in seven weeks!. First, we will start with five weeks of virtual Python programming. Then, we will meet in person to build robots and practice challenges with these robots as they prepare for our weekend competition at SDSC.
Students will meet over zoom from February 13 – March 13, 2025 and 4:30 PM – 6 PM. Nearing the end of March, from Saturday, March 22 and Saturday, March 29, hands-on role that building will take place in the SDSC Auditorium.
What is ForMIDABLE Summer?
If you are in grades six, seven or eight and you are interested in computer science, robotics and engineering, then this program is for you! An offshoot of UCSD’s ABLE program, this six-week program will introduce students to STEM through hands-on workshops, invited speakers, tutorials and robotics demonstrations. Join your middle school peers and experience a summer of fun, learning and mentoring!
Students joining the program will continue to have the opportunity to learn and experience a variety of computer science and engineering focused career speakers, while also learning Python in a once weekly programming course. Students will have the opportunity to stay involved with ForMIDABLE through their middle school graduation.


Weekly Winter Tuesday What is? Tutorial

Each Tuesday, students will receive an engineering tutorial via email. Learn about all of the exciting fields of engineering that you may not have known about.
Watch them all or watch a few. Remember though, the more you put into this program, the more you will benefit!
Our 2024 Summer Calendar of Events Coming Soon!
During this program, class will meet every Saturday morning and Wednesday afternoon. Saturday sessions will offer lessons on a range of interesting careers and opportunities, Including medicine, law, community volunteerism, engineering and computer science. Wednesdays will offer a six-part p beginning 3-D modeling workshop series, your introduction to beginning engineering. python.

ForMIDABLE Missed Event Policy
Once accepted into the program, participants are encouraged to attend as many events as your schedule will allow in order to gain the most from this program. Remember, the goal is to help you to better understand the fields of computer science and engineering before advancing to high school and expanding on your knowledge.
We understand that issues can arise at the last minute to prevent your attendance, and we certainly do allow for such situations. We just ask that you be mindful of the responsibility that comes with registering for an event.
