There are no exceptions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One year each of high school level <strong>chemistry or biology<\/strong> is recommended but not required for full consideration. Please check each project prerequisite as project requirements vary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants must have a <strong>minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and be college bound<\/strong>. Please include your non-weighted GPA.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completion of an <strong>REHS Final Poster<\/strong> and attendance at the Poster Session itself is mandatory. If you know that you will be unable to attend this event, please DO NOT apply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer sectionDivider\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading sectionHeading\">The Application<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"sectionContent\">As students will notice, the application is similar to previous internship applications that UCSD has used for other programs, but with a few less requirements.<br><br>Please complete the REHS application thoughtfully and completely. You cannot take back a first impression. You may apply for up to two projects, so please be sure to indicate Selection #1 and #2. You do not need to apply for two projects, but the option is there if you wish to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column internshipApplication-reminderLeft is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"REHSApplication-reminderTitle\">Please Remember To:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Address your cover letter to your first choice mentor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a well crafted resume<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write thoughtfully. Check for spelling errors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be honest. If your grades slipped a little, explain why. We all have issues that present themselves and that sometimes hinder achievement. A simple explanation is all you need.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write a thoughtful essay as to why you wish to participate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be thorough. Refer to the checklist before submitting your application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column internshipApplication-reminderRight is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"REHSApplication-reminderTitle\">Please DO NOT:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ask your parent to write your essay.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reuse a school essay. We can spot these a mile away!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use slang. (Yes, this has happened.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Address the mentor incorrectly in your cover letter. Please be sure to use Dr. when warranted and please do not use Dr. when the mentor does not have a doctorate. This seems like a small mistake, but it can count against you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Once your online applications are submitted, they will be sent to the REHS mentors for review and student selection.<br>Selected students will be notified in <strong>early May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" particular topic, such as neuroscience, before setting their sights on this as a career goal?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex and unhurried as there is quite a bit of information to absorb. Mentors are listed alphabetically by last name. Mentors will be asked to make their&nbsp;student selections by early May.
