The San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) was established as one of the nation\u2019s first supercomputer centers under a cooperative agreement by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in collaboration with the UC San Diego and General Atomics (GA) Technologies. SDSC first opened its doors on November 14, 1985.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

For more than 35 years, it has grown and stewarded its national reputation as a pioneer and leader in high-performance and data-intensive computing and cyberinfrastructure*. Located on the campus of UC San Diego, SDSC provides resources, services and expertise to the national research community including industry and academia. SDSC is a partner in XSEDE (Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment), the most advanced collection of integrated digital resources and services in the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The SDSC Mission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SDSC seeks to empower today\u2019s science and engineering communities and help develop the next generation of scientists, technologists and engineers. To these ends, SDSC offers professional development for teachers to provide them with knowledge and pedagogy to effectively engage and prepare their students for future use of technology tools in whatever they pursue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Cyberinfrastructure<\/strong> refers to an accessible, integrated network of computer-based resources and expertise, focused on accelerating scientific inquiry and discovery.
