What kind of scientific research goes on at the San Diego Supercomputer Center? Research at the San Diego Supercomputer Center is led by the Sciences Research and Development Division (SCIRAD) Computer-savvy scientists from many disciplines are part of this research group. Working closely with outside scientists, the SCIRAD team and other colleagues at SDSC support the needs of researchers across many disciplines and fields, including Astronomy, Atmospheric Science, BioSciences, Chemistry, GeoScience, Education, Engineering, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Ocean Sciences, Data Technologies, Computational Visualizations, and Homeland Security. Much of the research that scientists and engineers conduct today is increasingly reliant upon the availability of globally accessible information or "cyberinfrastructure" to drive research and education.
What is Cyberinfrastructure? Cyberinfrastructure provides a broad and useful spectrum of integrated technologies to support increasingly complex, large-scale and cooperative scientific endeavors. To learn more about Cyberinfrastructure view one of the videos below.
